Import your Chase statement without typing a single transaction
Chase's online banking lets you download your account activity directly, and Home Budget Analytics recognizes the Quicken (QFX) export automatically - no bank-specific setup, and no manual typing.
Supported Chase export formats
| Format | Recognized automatically? |
|---|---|
| QFX (Quicken) - from Download Account Activity | Yes, automatically |
| OFX | Yes, automatically, if your account offers it in this format |
| CSV - from Download Account Activity | Map the columns once and save the mapping for next time |
| Monthly statement PDF | Not automatically supported for Chase yet - use the QFX or CSV download instead |
How to download your Chase account activity
Log in to chase.com or the Chase mobile app and open the account you want to analyze. Look for a "Download Account Activity" or "Export" option on that account's activity page, choose a date range, and pick the Quicken (QFX) format if it's offered - that's the one Home Budget Analytics reads automatically.
If QFX isn't available for your account type, choose the CSV option instead (Excel downloads aren't read for this bank). The first time you upload a Chase CSV, you'll map which column is the date, description, and amount - that takes a minute, and you can save the mapping to reuse it for later Chase CSV files.
What happens after you upload it
Home Budget Analytics reads every transaction from the file and checks it against anything you've already imported, so the same period can be re-uploaded without creating duplicates.
Each transaction is categorized using your own categorization rules - confirmed once for a new merchant and then applied automatically every time it recurs - and the result shows up on your dashboard immediately: spending by category, trends, and progress toward your savings goals.
Common questions about Chase imports
Why QFX instead of the monthly statement PDF?
QFX (Quicken) is a structured data export built for finance software to read directly, so it imports more reliably than a PDF statement laid out for a human to read. Chase's monthly statement PDF isn't automatically supported yet - the QFX or CSV download works today.
Does this work for Chase business accounts?
This is built around Chase's personal/consumer account activity export. If a business account's download looks different, map it once as a CSV and save the mapping to reuse it for later files in the same format.
Can I upload several months of Chase activity at once?
Yes. Choose a wider date range when you download the file, and every transaction in it is imported and categorized in one upload.
